On the 29th of July 2014 Bonzell Stubbs departed this life and entered into eternal rest. Bonzell Stubbs was born to the late Mr. Robert Lee Stubbs Sr. and Mrs. Ella McNeil Stubbs in Hoke County, North Carolina. Bonzell was the third of seven children born with her twin brother Donell Stubbs on March 8, 1942. Bonzell accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Silver Grove Baptist Church, in Raeford, NC. She received her early education in Raeford and continued her education in the Guilford County School System. She graduated from James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro, NC. Bonzell worked at Cone Mills before being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1983. MS is a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, resulting in loss of muscle control, vision, balance, and sensation (such as numbness). With MS, the nerves of the brain and spinal cord are damaged by one's own immune system. Thus, the condition is called an autoimmune disease. After being diagnosed Bonzell worked at the Industries of the Blind until her sister, Sallie Smith became her full time caregiver in 1987. Bonzell leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Sallie Smith, Marlyn Patrick, Charlene Patterson (Larry Sr.) all of Greensboro; and two brothers, Donell Stubbs (Faye) and Charles Stubbs (Vickie) also of Greensboro. Bonzell was preceded in death by her older brother Robert Lee Stubbs Jr. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of other relatives and friends.
