Bobby Cornell Addington, son of the late Robert Lewis Addington and the late Sallie Mae Harris was born on May 31, 1946 in Greensboro, NC. He went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 3rd, 2019. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kenyetta Addington and sister Carolyn Myers (James). Bobby grew up in Greensboro, NC and was educated in Greensboro City Schools and was a graduate of James B. Dudley High School, class of 1965 and attended North Carolina A&T State University. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Greensboro where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School alongside his wife. Bobby was an exceptional salesman in the automotive industry winning many awards and managing multiple dealerships. After more than 25 years in the automotive industry, he decided to pursue a landscaping business and was self-employed. Bobby enjoyed attending all football and basketball games of his beloved NC A&T Aggies and talking about the teams to his friends and family. He was also a USATF certified track and field official and a fellow Aggie Athletic Foundation donor and Greensboro AAF Chapter Member. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rebecca (Beckey) Miles Addington, daughter Kimberley Gaines (Arnold) of Greensboro, grandson Michael Gaines, sisters Shirley MacDonald of Liberty, NC, Ella Ree Garner (Arnold) of Snow Camp, NC, Sara Goodman (Marc) of Thomasville, NC, brothers Reverend Darrell Addington (Laura) of Greensboro, NC and Thomas Addington of High Point, NC and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1301 Alamance Church Road in Greensboro, North Carolina. The visitation is at 11:00 a.m. and the service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow service at Maplewood Cemetery, 235 Bingham Street, Greensboro, North Carolina.
