Friday, March 8, 2013 11:00 a.m.Providence Baptist Church 1106 Tuscaloosa StreetGreensboro, North CarolinaBlossom Hodge Tynes, 86 of Greensboro, North Carolina passed on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Maple Grove Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 11, 1926 in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Benjamin and Ethel Hodge. She was married to Dr. Victor H. Tynes, Sr. of Greensboro, North Carolina. Blossom graduated from Atkins High School, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She continued her education at Barbara Scotia College, Concord, North Carolina and later received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She was a former President of Old North State Auxiliary (83) and Alpha Wives (89). She was a member of the Golden Graduate Society, Barbara Scotia (02).Blossom ended her career with the Guilford County School System. She was an administrative assistant at Burlington Industries, Greensboro, North Carolina and Maser Safe Company in New York City and a social worker in New York City. She enjoyed designing hats, oil painting, and volunteering her time in service to the community and church.Blossom leaves to cherish her memories, husband: Dr. Victor H. Tynes, Sr.; daughter: Brenda M. Grinage (Berchman, Sr.) of Charlotte, North Carolina; step sons: Victor H. Tynes, Jr. (Judy) of Arlington, Virginia, and Myron Kevan, Sr., (Arizonan); grandchildren: Winston, III, Berchman, Jr., C. Michael, Cyprion, Ruth H. Tynes, Myron K. Tynes, Jr.; great grandchildren: Jada, Winston, IV, Aidan, Chi, Vianne, Tahlia,; brother: Isaiah Hodge; a host of nieces; nephews; grand-nieces; grand-nephews; other family and friends.
