Obituary

Bishop Willie Sanders Jr., passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023.

Funeral service will be held Monday, August 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Cathedral of Deliverance, 3612 Summit Ave, Greensboro, NC 27405 with 12:30 pm visitation.

Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery 3600 N. O'Henry Blvd. Greensboro, NC.

Bishop Willie Sanders, Jr. was born on July 15, 1932 to the late Willie Sanders, Sr. and the late Beatrice Sanders. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 13 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born in Moundville, Alabama and later moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he met and married Pinkie Ollie. In 1962, he moved to Greensboro, North Carolina with his family and Morrisette Paper Company where he worked as a manager and retired after forty-five years.

God gave him a vision in November 1980 and he became the founder of the Cathedral of Deliverance Church of God at 3612 Summit Avenue in Greensboro, North Carolina. He loved the Lord and the vision God gave him was complete.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Sanders; his father, Willie Sanders, Sr.; his brother, Eunice Sanders; his sister, Sadie Sanders; his daughter, Willie Pearl Morgan (Alton Morgan); his grandsons, Garry Johnson, Jr. and Antonio Johnson; and his great grandson, Cameron Watson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of sixty-four years, Pinkie Ollie Sanders; his sons, Elijah Sanders (Celestine Sanders) and Ivan Sanders; his daughter, Patricia Hope (Anthony Hope); his sister, Bertha Patton; his ten grandkids; his seventeen great-grandkids; his twelve great-great grandkids; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
