Betty L. Moravian, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 28th, 2019 at Camden Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was born March 6, 1938 to Jean Gibson in Jersey City, New Jersy.

Betty was educated in the New Jersey school system and graduated from Henry Snyder High School in 1957. Betty moved later in life to South Carolina, New York, and finally to North Carolina.

Her main passions in life were her family, her soaps, her gardening, and her love of wrestling. She was a devoted member of New Calvary Baptist Church and later New Faith Baptist Church, both in Greensboro. She greatly enjoyed gospel music, and often traveled with her late niece Etta to see various performances.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Moravian, and daughter Hattie. She is survived by her children, Grady, Jerome, Alan, Donald, Timothy, Daniel, Derry, Willie Lee, and Teresa. She is also survived by her nephews, Michael and Devon Gibson, whom she raised as her own. She also had a special bond with her niece Katina Curry and her nephew Jimmy Gibson who shared the same birthday. She is survived by her siblings Winnie Jackson (Georgia), Masai Ehehosi (Georgia), James Gibson (New Jersey), and preceded in passing by sisters Gail, Cynthia, and brother Freddie. She was also the matriarch and cornerstone to a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchild, and friends.

A service honoring her life will be held Saturday December 7, 2019 at the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home; 909 E. Market St. Greensboro, NC. Visitation will begin at 11:30am with service following at 12pm.
