GREENSBORO â?? Barry Abdur-Rahim, formerly Barry Hooper, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday October 18, 2012 at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home in the Cassie C. Brown Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Barry was born on July 23, 1952 to the late Nathaniel Gary Hooper Sr. and Juanita Hooper. He graduated from James B. Dudley High School Class of 1970. He was preceded in death by his brother, Nathaniel Gary Hooper, Jr. Survivors include his daughters, Alicia L. Brooks (Brian), Ladina Peak (Hayward); stepsons, Tarrance Williams and Anthony Gray; granddaughters, Morgan Brooks and soon to be born Kirsten Peak; step grandson, Esai Morales; mother, Juanita Hooper; sister, Ingrid Hooper; nephew, Breyon Hooper; aunt, Everlean Foxx; wife, Lisa Abdur-Rahim; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Chapel prior to the service and at other times at 1113 Ardmore Drive, Greensboro, NC. Arrangements provided by Perry J.
