Barbara Jean Moone was born January 31, 1938 to the late Beulah and Andy Martin. After living a very fulfilled life she went home to be with the Lord on August 6, 2014. She was an active member of Oak Grove A.M.E. Zion Church (Rev. Lisa Caldwell). She served as a deaconess, an usher, and a member of the choir. She was always eagerly ready to help with any task at hand when it came to serving people. Barbara was a loving mother to all who called her "Mama". She was known by many as "Grandma Jean" or "Aunt Barbara Jean". She had adoptive grandchildren and nieces and nephews ranging from ages 0-85 years old. She was a caring and devoted friend. She graduated from James B. Dudley High School where she was a majorette. She faithfully attended her class reunions. She also graduated from NC A&T State University. She was an entrepreneur who owned a florist, known as Floral Fantasy. She took pride in showing her knowledge of flowers. She was a well-known actress in the Greensboro Area and is known for her notable role as "Jezebel" in Women of the Bible. She regularly participated in Juneteenth festivals. She was a member of the "Red Hat Society", her name was "Miss Hollywood." Her latest position held was a Foster Grandparent, Grandma Moone. She was a Jane of all trades. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Beulah Moone, her husband; Ulysses Moone Jr., and daugheter- in- law, Larita (Chelle) Moone. Surviving relatives left to cherish her memories are; two daughters, Delisa Moone and Para (Gary) Simms, and one son, Ulysses Moone, all of Greensboro; Her grandchildren, Aricka (Ron) Pennix of Winston-Salem, NC, Monica (Bradley) Cheek, Deana Simms, Terrence (Ashley) Simms, Brittany Fuller, and Tylisa Moone, all of Greensboro. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and special family and friends.
