Barbara Ann Cook transitioned from this life on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Guilford Health Care. In her final days, Barbara was surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born March 13, 1935 to the late Gladys Thacker in Greensboro NC. She was reared and educated within the surrounding communities and went on to retire from Cone Mills after 30 years of service. Barbara was an extraordinary woman and was affectionately known as "Bunny". She believed in helping others and opened her home and heart to many. She most enjoyed playing bingo and watching professional tennis. She endured health challenges during her later years in life, however, she wasn't one to complain and soldiered through each day. We will always hold the memories of her in our heart and we know we were blessed to have had her in our lives. Barbara was predeceased in death by her mother, Gladys Thacker, sister, Mary Ledbetter, brother, Marvin Love, and grandson, James Cook Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Linda Cook of Greensboro, sons, John Cook and James Cook Sr. both of Greensboro, sister, Emma Lee Jefferson of Greensboro; Grandchildren, Barbara Cook Pratt (Jeff) of High Point, Jamill Taylor of Greensboro, Demorrio Cook (Raesha) of Greensboro, and Ronald "Plunk" Compton (Susan) of Columbus, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and nephew and a host of nieces. A service honoring her life will be held at the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home; 909 E. Market St. Greensboro, NC. Visitation will begin at 11:30 with service following at 12pm. Internment will be at Maplewood Cemetery.
