Obituary

Mr. Arnold Clen Bowen was born on March 11, 1927, in Bladen County, North Carolina (near Wilmington) to the late Archie Bowen and Lena Carter Bowen.  He was one of twelve children.  He went home to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 2, 2015. At an early age, he joined the U.S. Navy and served Honorably during World War II.  In 1947, he was united in Holy Matrimony with the  late Mary Victoria Toon Bowen and they loved each other as best friends and partners for 62 years.  Soon after marriage he relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina.  He has been a loyal member at Trinity AME Zion Church for over 60 years.  He served on the Men's Usher board and is the last of the original charter members in the James Varick Men's Ministry.  He also joined the St. John's Lodge #12 PHA Free Masons in 1957 and had a life long membership.  He earned the status of Third Degree Master Mason.  He retired from U.S. Post Office in 1989.  He leaves behind to cherish his memories, two sisters: Vedemeral Munn and Delilah Blanks (Wendell); four sons: Larry (Savannah), Mark, Keith (Debbie), Ken (Joyce); one daughter: Cheryl; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
