Mrs. Arlether "Lethea" McCorkle Lash was born on January 19, 1918 in Ridgeway, South Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. Mrs. Lash joined St. Stephen United Church of Christ in the 1930's. Throughout her membership, she sang in the Chancel, Gospel and Mass Choirs. She also sang in the Eloise Logan Penn Chorale Society and the Glenn Burleigh Choir. Arlether was member of Missionary Circle #2 and then Missionary Circle #5. Arlether remained active at St. Stephen until 2018 when her health declined. Arlether is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph J. Lash, her parents, Nick and Louise McCorkle, son, Theodore J. Hayes, adopted daughter, Ida Griffin, daughter-in-law, Mary Hayes, and her siblings, Sallie, Daisy, Janie, Louie, Nick, Jr, Ulysses, Nell, Helen, and Isaac. Left to cherish her memory are special nephew, Johnny Hutchinson; special niece Margaret Jarrell-Peace; son-in-law Lenard Griffin; grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. The service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020. The family will receive friends for a viewing from 11:30 am until 12:00 pm with the funeral service to follow immediately after at St. Stephen United Church of Christ, 1000 Gorrell Street in Greensboro.
