Anita H. Grant, 54, passed away December 21, 2015 in Columbus, OH. Born in Queens, NY, Anita grew up in Greensboro, NC, and resided in Athens, OH for the past 24 years. Anita was a graduate of Grimsley High School (1979), Bennett College (BAS, 1984) and Clark Atlanta University (MLS, 1987). She was employed as Library Administrator at the Salvation Army College for Officer's Training before transitioning to a career with Ohio University in 1991. While at OU, she was employed as the Head of Circulation Services, managed the OU Libraries Micro-Films Department, and most recently held the position of Electronics Acquisitions Librarian. In addition, Anita worked tirelessly and in numerous capacities within her various professional and civic affiliations. She was an active member of World Harvest Church (Columbus, OH) and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., in which she served as a past president of Alpha Omicron Omega Chapter (Institute, WV) and was appointed as a regional committee member (Great Lakes Region). Anita touched the lives of many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceded in death by mother Sarah Ann Brown Grant, and father Horace Cleveland Grant. Survived by sisters Audrey (Willard) Carpenter and Mary E. Little; niece Ashley Carpenter; nephew Willard Carpenter; great niece Rhonda Jonelle Chrisp; great nephew Amir Carpenter; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Celebration of Life 2 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, 600 E. Florida St., Greensboro, where her family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the start of service. Rev. Dr. Arnetta E. Beverly, officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
