OBITUARY

Mrs. Amogene G. Donnell was born on March 21, 1930 to the late Lawrence Gregory and Clara Simmons Gregory in Gaffney, SC. She departed this life on Saturday, January 25, 2014.

Amogene graduated from Granard High School in Gaffney, SC. She was a long time member of New Zion Baptist Church and later became a member of Godly Love Baptist Church where she was a loyal and faithful member. She served as church clerk for many years. She was also a member of the Gospel choir, usher board, and the Missionary Circle. She was a member of the VFW Post #267 in Greensboro where she served as president and treasurer. She worked at Kaiser Roth for many years. She retired from J.P. Stevens after twenty years.

In addition to her parents, Amogene was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Donnell; son, Keith H. Byers; brothers Mike Gregory, Marshall Gregory, and Rome Gregory; and sister, Anglee G. Lattimore.

She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Rosalyn M. Byers of Greensboro; son, Willie S. Byers, Sr. (Carolyn) of Greensboro; sister, Miller Ree Rawlison of Greensboro; brothers, Bobby G. Gregory (Elaine) of Greensboro and William R. Gregory (Moto) of Augusta, GA; grandsons, Seth Byers (Hope) of Columbia, MD and Willie S. Byers, Jr. (Bobbie) of Greensboro; granddaughters, Katina B. Wright (David) and Sabrina T. Byers of Greensboro; five great-grandchildren; 13 nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.
