Obituary

Alton Douglas departed this life on Friday, July 7, 2017. He was born July 23, 1930 in Rowland, North Carolina to the late Willie and Minnie Douglas. He graduated from Southside High School where he continued to be an active member of their Alumni Association. Alton was a faithful servant of Mount Zion Baptist Church where he was involved with the Sunday School for more than fifty years and a member of the Deacon Board. He retired from Dillard Paper Company where he had perfect attendance during his employment. Alton was a generous person and was willing to help others in need. He often donated his services when he performed work for those he knew were unable to pay him. He was also active with the King Solomon Grand Council, A.S.R Mason's Inc. In addition to his parents, Alton was preceded in death by eight sisters and seven brothers. He was the youngest of sixteen children and honored as the last surviving uncle and patriarch and honored every year at the Douglas family reunion. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Louanna Douglas Greensboro, NC; daughter Mae Douglas of Greensboro, NC; son James Alton (Deborah) of Greensboro, NC; daughters Joyce (Douglas) of Trenton, NJ; and Lois Henderson of Westbury, NY; grandchildren Sterling Douglas of New York, NY; Danielle (Duane) Green, and three great grandchildren Tasanee, Makai and Saniya Green of Hamilton, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews relatives and countless friends.A service honoring his life will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church; 1301 Alamance Church Road, Greensboro, NC 27406 on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. The visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 11:30 am. The interment will take place following the service at Lakeview Memorial Park; 3600 N Ohenry Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27405.
