Mrs. Agnes Elizabeth Johnson passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025.

A funeral service to honor her life will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Destiny Christian Center located at 2401 Randleman Road in Greensboro, North Carolina. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm and service will follow at 12:30 pm.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery located at 3900 Forest Lawn Drive in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Agnes Elizabeth Edwards was born on June 12, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, to Lumisher Jones and James Johnson. She matriculated through the New York City public school system, ultimately earning her diploma from Eastern District High School. She then pursued higher education by attending Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina.

In 1955, Agnes married her middle school sweetheart, James Edwards. To this union, one child was born: Constance Adrianne.

Agnes was employed by Ameritex United Merchants for approximately 40 years prior to the company's closure. It was at this time that Agnes made a fateful career shift from textiles to finance, beginning work as a temp at Shearson Lehman Brothers. This opportunity proved to be a blessing from God, as Agnes eventually retired in 2001 as a Vice President of Human Resources from Salomon Smith Barney.

After deciding to return to Greensboro to be closer to her family, Agnes enjoyed the remainder of her retirement traveling, working out, making new friends, and serving God at her church home, Destiny Christian Center.

Agnes leaves behind—not to mourn, but to continue her legacy—her daughter, Constance; her grandchildren, Cameron Williams and Cassidy Williams; two aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
